January 22nd 2010: A large happy new year to all who pass this way. Two bits of news: Paul spent last week in West Cork recording with Interference.....their second studio album...from all reports a great start. Jessie Kennedy is launching her album officially on March 20th in Skibberreen, Co. Cork. Also for anyone looking for copies of 'earthquakes' , Road records in Dublin is up and running again and they have two! November 20th 2009: A quick reminder that Paul is starting his German/Austrian tour next week....new songs, new clothes and a chance for his German fans to hear the 'earthquakes' songs live! October 5th 2009: Jessie Kennedy's first album has arrived! It's called 'Field of the wicked' and will soon be available at CDbaby and directly from Jessie's website. Paul produced and played on the album and we wish it all the luck and bon voyage it deserves! August 27th 2009: Announcing the winter tour of Germany (see concerts). Paul Tiernan and John Lester (the pessimist and the optomist combo) bring to German and Austrian audiences their musical dynamism. July 21st 2009: Here's something we thought we should share with you. It's Mark Cagney's (presenter of Irish breakfast tv show) blog and says some rather wonderful things about Paul. Mark Cagney blog....tv3 One of the country's best and most underrated singer/songwriters dropped in for a chat this morning. Paul Tiernan, who some of you may remember from his time with the bands 'Interference' and 'Flex and the Fastweather' (don't ask, I haven't got a clue) has spent the last eight and bit years living abroad, mostly in France. If his quality of work, in particular the development of his song writing, is anything to go by, it's a move some of his peers and contemporaries should seriously consider (Yes, I mean you Damien Rice). As Paul said himself this morning, he needed to get out of Ireland's small musical pond (puddle actually) and grow up as an artist. With his last two records, 2004's 'Belle' and the current release 'Earthquakes start with little cracks' he is putting together a body of work that ranks with the best. I don't want to pigeon hole or label his music, but he grew up on Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Dylan, so without prejudice it's safe to say, he writes confessional songs for grown ups, they are also invariably melodic and tuneful. Angst is all well and good, but a great tune helps the medicine go down and Tiernan has never been short of good tunes. However he has added a depth, maturity and wisdom to his armoury, plus a little Gallic flavour, which lifts him into different (higher) league altogether, check out 'Those Regrets' and 'Panic Blues' on 'Earthquakes start with little cracks' and ask yourself, how many of his peers are writing songs this good. In fact go one step further, and go out and buy it, because if these songs don't already strike a chord with you, they will, someday. July 20th 2009: The Swiss tour went really well, Jessie Kennedy's new CD is finished and will be released at the end of the summer. Paul had been asked to play at a festival in Narbonne, France this August, details will be posted as soon as we have them. June 3rd 2009: Paul Tiernan, Interference and Jessie Kennedy are off on a 4 date tour of Switzerland this month, a truly exciting prospect! See concerts for more details. April 7th 2009: Photos page has been updated! March 24th 2009 : Paul's Irish tour went exceedingly well....we'll be putting several reviews of 'earthquakes' into the reviews page soon as well as some more photos.
